Red Devils plan to sign £30m Fulham star in January as long-term solution to injury crisis

Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson has reportedly been touted as a possible long-term replacement for Luke Shaw at Manchester United.

The Red Devils began the season without a fit left-back. Erik Ten Hag deployed right-back Diogo Dalot on the left as a makeshift solution.

However, despite signing several new faces, they have not looked for a left-back on the transfer market.

Man Utd eventually signed three defenders: Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui joined the club. Ten Hag's team also recruited a striker in Joshua Zirkzee and a defensive midfielder in the form of Manuel Ugarte.

Accordingly The sun, Man Utd are planning a January deal for Robinson if they can raise the necessary funds. He is seen as a long-term replacement for Shaw, who has suffered several injuries throughout his career.

The Red Devils have been impressed by the 27-year-old's ability and athleticism and Fulham will not stop him from moving should any other team pay the £30 million fee demanded during the winter transfer window.

Robinson is considered a potentially valuable addition to the United squad. The US star has had a strong start to the season with two assists in three league games and is currently at the peak of his Premier League career.

Given the current high market prices for left-backs, £30 million for Robinson seems a bargain. The key question is whether United can recoup that much through player sales in the January transfer window.

Luke Shaw's time at Man Utd is running out

Shaw had a difficult 2023/24 season with numerous injuries and his reputation as an injury-prone player was not helped by another injury before the current season.

Last season, Shaw only played in 15 games, but recovered sufficiently to play for England at the European Championships in Germany.

However, the Southampton graduate suffered a calf injury on his return to United's pre-season training, dealing another major blow to his career.

He will be out until the international break, but United may want to have a suitable replacement on a longer-term basis as soon as possible.

To provide this solution, Tyrell Malacia was bought from Feyenoord two years ago, but the Dutch international has not played for the past 14 months as he has not yet recovered from a serious knee injury.
