A motorcyclist was killed in an accident on the Gardena Pass on Sunday afternoon. The man crashed his bike into the guardrail.

A fatal motorcycle accident occurred on Sunday at around 12.15 p.m. at the Gardena Pass.

A motorcyclist from the Netherlands, who was travelling with a group of motorcyclists down the valley towards Selva, lost control of his bike in a left-hand bend above the Chalet Gerard hotel and crashed into the guardrail.

The motorcyclist was thrown across the road.

Despite the rapid response of the firefighters from Wolkenstein and the emergency doctor, the man's life could not be saved.

The man from Holland had suffered severe head and chest injuries.

The Carabinieri are now investigating the circumstances of the accident.
