In Ainet, in East Tyrol, a serious traffic accident occurred on Sunday when a motorcyclist collided with a turning car on the Regenstrasse B108.

On Sunday afternoon, September 1, 2024, a 54-year-old man from Austria was riding his motorcycle on the B108 from Lienz towards Ainet. When he noticed a car in front of him turning, he tried to overtake the two vehicles in front on the wet road. This led to a collision with the turning vehicle.

The collision caused the motorcyclist to be thrown over the hood of the car and land on the road. The 20-year-old car driver and the motorcyclist suffered injuries of an unknown degree. While the younger driver drove to the hospital in Lienz on his own, the 54-year-old motorcyclist had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance. The accident caused significant material damage to both vehicles involved.
