Two out of three children die after falling into wells in Karachi

A tragic incident occurred in Karachi's Garden West area on Sunday in which three people, including two children, were killed when they fell into a well.

The victims were identified as 8-year-old Badr and 12-year-old Talha, both of whom lived near the incident scene.

According to rescuers, the children were playing near a residential building and began jumping on the lid of an old well. The lid could not support their weight and suddenly gave way, causing the two boys to fall into the well.

Local residents immediately alerted authorities and a plumber was called to assist in rescue efforts. Police reported that the well had dried up, making rescue efforts difficult due to the narrow width of the structure.

During the operation, a rescue worker was also trapped while trying to reach the children, but was eventually rescued safely.

Rescue teams managed to recover the body of one child. The other child and a young man who had climbed into the well to rescue the children were pulled out in life-threatening condition, but succumbed to their injuries shortly afterwards.
