Lane Kiffin's dog joins in after losing service during Ole Miss kickoff

The Ole Miss Rebels' highly anticipated 2024 season got off to a smooth start after a 76-0 win over the Furman Paladins.

Unless you count the opening kickoff.

One of college football's newest traditions is Ole Miss' kickoff routine. Since last fall, head coach Lane Kiffin's dog Juice Kiffin has trotted to the middle of the field and picked up the kickoff after every kickoff at Vaught Hemingway Stadium.

Unfortunately, Juice – a Labrador Retriever by name and apparently by temperament – was unexpectedly placed on the Rebels' opening weekend injury list on Saturday.

When it was time for the opening kickoff against Furman, the Retriever was downgraded from questionable to out despite rumors that Juice would try out. However, he still showed up on the field.

And in a way that would have made his father proud, he used his X-account to talk about things.

Just like his trainer father, Juice has quickly established himself as a social media phenomenon. His X account has over 57,000 followers and his posts range from updates from his daily life to reposts from his adoring fans.

His status for Ole Miss' game next week against the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders is unclear.
