EU “condemns dangerous measures” by China against Philippine ship

The European Union accused China on Sunday of taking “dangerous measures” against the Philippineswhile Beijing and Manila blamed each other for deliberately ramming their coast guard ships.
The collision is the latest in a series of similar incidents in recent weeks in the South China Seawhere Beijing claims almost all of the economically important body of water for itself, despite competing claims from other countries and a ruling by an international court that its claim has no legal basis.
“The EU condemns the dangerous actions of Chinese coast guard vessels against legitimate Philippine maritime operations in the Sabina Reef area,” said Nabila Massrali, spokeswoman for the The EU Top diplomat Josep Borrell, in a statement.
