Leopard mauls 2-year-old in Amreli, drops body after father chases her

Amreli: A two-year-old boy was bitten to death by a leopard in Gujarat's Amreli district, a forest department official said on Sunday.

The incident occurred near Garamli village on Saturday evening, the official said.

“Chirag, the son of a farm labourer from Dahod, was playing when the leopard attacked. The animal took the child, ran for some distance and dropped him after his father chased him. The critically injured child was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival,” the official said.

The area where the incident occurred is in the Gir East forest area. Cages have been set up there to capture the leopard, the official said.
