Murder suspect arrested after six years on the run

New Delhi: After a six-year-long pursuit, law enforcement agencies have finally arrested a suspect wanted in connection with a high-profile murder in 2018. The accused has been identified as Abhay, also known as Dara.
The heinous crime took place in 2018 in west Delhi's Ranhola area, where a man named Amit was brutally murdered during what seemed like a minor altercation. Abhay, who was at the scene to deliver construction materials to a construction site in Ranhola, allegedly got into a heated argument with Amit, an employee at the construction site.
In a fit of rage, Abhay allegedly brutally beat Amit to death before fleeing the scene and evading arrest by going into hiding. On September 29, 2018, Abhay was declared a fugitive by the court, triggering a large-scale manhunt by several police units.
“The arrest was made by a team led by Inspectors Man Singh and Sanjeev Kumar based on credible intelligence information about Abhay's movements in the Dhaula Kuan area,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Amit Kaushik.
Abhay, originally from Rajasthan, eked out a living by doing odd jobs in Gurugram, Haryana and evaded the authorities.
In a separate operation, the special cell arrested two people to foil a murder plot.
The accused, identified as Amaan Sheikh (23) and Asad Chaudhary (24), are said to have planned an attack on a person in the Trans-Yamuna region with their gang members. The authorities seized three firearms and a dozen rounds of live ammunition from the suspects.
“The arrests were made by a team led by Inspector Sunil Teotia, which received a tip-off that the gang members had an intention to commit a crime,” DCP Kaushik said.
Sheikh was previously involved in a shooting incident in the Welcome area and was on the run since June. Chaudhary has already been involved in cases of cell phone theft.
