15-year-old arrested in connection with fatal shooting of 17-year-old in Euclid

EUCLID, Ohio (WOIO) – Euclid police have arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with the fatal shooting that left a 17-year-old boy dead and four others injured on Friday.

The 15-year-old “lone offender” was arrested at a private home in Euclid around 8 p.m. on Saturday, according to a press release from Euclid police on Sunday.

According to a press release, the teens were shot on Nicholas Avenue near East 222nd Street about an hour after the nearby soccer game ended at about 10:30 p.m.

The five teenagers were taken to local hospitals, but 17-year-old Sincere Rowdy succumbed to his injuries, police confirmed.

Euclid police said in a press release Saturday: “This was not a random act of violence.”

Euclid City Schools posted a confirmation on Facebook that the deceased teenager was not enrolled in Euclid City Schools.

The post also offered counselors at every school starting Tuesday

The police are actively investigating and there is no ongoing danger to the public.

The 15-year-old is currently in custody at the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center and charges will be determined at a later date, according to Euclid police.
