Real wages in Bavaria increased by 3.3 percent

Compared to last year, employees in Bavaria have significantly more money in their pockets – also thanks to inflation compensation bonuses.

Munich (dpa/lby) – Real wages in Bavaria rose by an average of 3.3 percent in the second quarter. This was mainly due to the payment of the tax-free inflation compensation premium and higher collective wage agreements, according to the State Office for Statistics.

Nominally, gross wages rose by 6.0 percent compared to the same quarter last year. With inflation at 2.6 percent, this remains at 3.3 percent after adjusting for prices.

Service providers are paying a nominal 6.8 percent higher wages, while employees in industry are only getting a nominal 4.8 percent higher. The wages of full-time employees are increasing slightly more than those of part-time workers. The state office is surveying a representative sample of around 6,400 Bavarian companies in industry, construction, trade, the service sector, fishing, agriculture and forestry.
