Keanu Reeves is Shadow in the first trailer for the movie “Sonic the Hedgehog 3”

There is now a trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, in which fans get a first glimpse of Keanu Reeves in the role of the new archenemy Shadow the Hedgehog before the film's cinema release on December 20th.

In the trailer, Sonic (Ben Schwartz), Tails (Colleen O'Shaughnessey) and Knuckles (Idris Elba) have a showdown with Shadow, who is portrayed as a kind of dark twin of Sonic, but whose spirit is not driven by love and friendship, but by grief and darkness. The gang enlists the help of Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey), who has let his hair grow long. We also meet a new surprise character at the end of the trailer.

The mix of humor, CGI characters and top-notch voice acting has made the first two video game adaptations hits. The first film, released in 2020, grossed $302 million worldwide, and the sequel did even better, earning $405 million. Both films are streaming on Paramount Plus.

The character Shadow was introduced in a mid-credits scene after Sonic 2, but the character did not speak in that scene. The third film in the trilogy was announced in early 2022.
