Man arrested for attempted murder after stabbing in Liverpool

Officers were contacted at 8:55pm on Thursday 22 August and found a 21-year-old man on Church Street with multiple stab wounds to his back.

It is believed that the victim was involved in an argument with about seven young men prior to the incident.

The emergency services arrived and took the man to the hospital. He has since been released.

Merseyside Police today (Monday 2 September) confirmed that an 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

He was released on bail pending further investigations.

The investigation is still ongoing.

A 16-year-old male was also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He was released on bail pending further investigations.

Detective Inspector Neil Dillon said: “We continue to appeal for anyone who was in Church Street on the evening of Thursday 22 August and can come forward with information.

“We have released images of three men who we believe may assist us with our enquiries and ask anyone who recognises them to please contact us as we believe they may assist us with our enquiries.”

“We are also asking anyone who recorded the incident on their mobile phone to please send us the footage so that we can progress our investigation.

“Knife crime has no place on the streets of Merseyside and we will continue to do everything in our power to tackle it, bring offenders to justice and remove weapons from our streets, so please come forward and tell us what you know.”
