Suryakumar Yadav misses first round of Duleep Trophy

Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav will miss the opening round of the Duleep Trophy, which begins on September 5, due to a hand injury he sustained last week.

Right-hander Suryakumar, who played in Mumbai's last match against TNCA XI in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament in Coimbatore, had missed the final day of the competition due to injury and was unable to bat.

Suryakumar, whose unavailability for the Duleep Trophy competition was confirmed by BCCI sources, was scheduled to play for India C against India D in the first round at Ananthapur from September 5 to 8. He has reported to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, India A and India B will face each other in the other match of the competition at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

The competition will provide an opportunity for Indian players vying for a place in the two-Test series at home against Bangladesh, which begins on September 19 in Chennai.
