Real wages in Rhineland-Palatinate rose slightly

Wages in Rhineland-Palatinate have risen slightly more than prices. But the increase is not high.

Bad Ems (dpa/lrs) – Real wages in Rhineland-Palatinate rose slightly in the second quarter compared to the same period last year. They grew by one percent, as the State Statistical Office in Bad Ems announced. Real wages refer to earnings taking inflation into account. It therefore shows the actual purchasing power that employees have at their disposal.

The wages paid and disadvantages, the so-called nominal wage, rose by 3.6 percent in the second quarter compared to the same quarter last year. “In addition to the entry into force of higher collective agreements, payments of the inflation compensation premium are also likely to have contributed to this,” the state office said.
