LIST: Police reveal identities of #EndBadGovernance protesters in custody

  • The Nigerian police have swung into action after some elements allegedly attempted to overthrow the federal government led by President Tinubu through protests
  • The Federal Court ordered the detention of the nine male protesters and one female protester in Kuje Prison
  • The force’s spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the development on Monday, September 2
  • Adejobi revealed the identities of the arrested protesters and also said that a British national and an activist are currently on the police watch list.

FCT, Abuja – On Monday, September 2, the Police Command in Abuja released the identities of #EndBadGovernance protesters remanded in Kuje Prison.

The force’s Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyuwa Adejobi, made the announcement in a statement in Abuja and presented a list of the protesters.

As Vanguard reported, Adejobi pointed out that the British government has brought treason charges against the 10 suspected protesters in connection with the recent #EndBadGovernance protests, including British national Andrew Martin Wynne (also known as Andrew Povich).

Adejobi further pointed out that the protesters were arraigned before a competent court on Monday. The federal government had accused them of six charges bordering on terrorism.

He said:

“The ten other suspects already arrested were arraigned on Monday, September 2, 2024, before a competent court on charges of criminal conspiracy, terrorist financing, treason, subversion and cybercrime.

“These acts are in clear violation of the Terrorism (Prevention) Act 2011 and other relevant laws.”

Adejobi also added: “The Inspector General of Police (IGP), IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, while condemning the activities of the group, has since activated the tools of INTERPOL and other global police networks to support ongoing domestic investigations aimed at locating and arresting the fugitive suspects.”
