Cold Case: Police ask for information after finding a dead baby in 1987 – broadcast on “Aktenzeichen XY… ungelöst”

On Thursday, December 10, 1987, at 10:12 a.m., a walker found a black cloth bag at the NATO ramp (boat ramp) on Bonn's Fritz-Schroeder-Ufer, between Wachsbleiche and Rosental. The bag is located directly on the waterline of the Rhine.

The walker looked into the opened bag and saw the body of what was obviously a newborn baby, along with several towels with blood on them.

An autopsy later revealed that the baby was a viable premature baby born in the 7th or 8th month of pregnancy, and that the baby had died as a result of an external influence. At that time, medical investigations into pregnant women who could not provide evidence of having given birth were unsuccessful.

Almost 37 years later, investigators from the Bonn Police Cold Case Investigation Group asked for information about this unsolved case and published photos of the towels found at the site. These can be accessed on the NRW Police's wanted persons portal at .

Who can provide information about a woman who was pregnant in the autumn/winter of 1987 and may have given birth to her child without any outside help or hospitalisation?

Who can provide information about a household in which the towels or clothing items shown were present before December 10, 1987, but then disappeared?
