Prashant Kishor promises to field at least 40 Muslims in Bihar elections; says fight is between Jan Suraaj and NDA, not RJD

Former election strategist Prashant Kishor claimed that his party Jan Suraaj will form a government in Bihar after the 2025 assembly elections and said that his main fight is against the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Kishor also claimed that his party would field at least 40 Muslim leaders in the upcoming general elections, which would be proportionate to the population of the state.

According to the 2011 census, Muslims constitute nearly 17 percent of Bihar's population. Bihar's legislative assembly has 243 seats. This 17 percent translates to approximately 41 seats.

Kishor clarified that his demand was in line with Jan Suraaj's vision of providing representation to all sections of society in proportion to their population size, challenging the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

“The RJD has been claiming to be the saviour of Muslims for 30 years. If they are concerned about dividing the Muslim vote, we will not field Muslim candidates while they are fielding Muslims,” he said.

Kishor demanded that the RJD stop taking away rights from Muslims and asked them to give ballot papers to Muslims according to their population. He promised to field Hindu candidates if the RJD accepts his challenge.

He did not reveal who the Chief Minister of the Jan Suraaj Party is. He also said that he is fighting against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA as per the results of the Lok Sabha elections.

“NDA is leading with 176 seats. Nobody is taking RJD seriously. The fight is between Jan Suraaj and NDA. Leave RJD sitting Dharma or Anshan (We don’t care),” Kishor told reporters.
