Could the Oasis reunion happen sooner? Saudi boxing promoter wants Liam and Noel together for the fight on September 21

The Oasis reunion could come sooner than expected.

The Britpop-era band ended a 15-year hiatus last week by announcing a tour of the British Isles next summer. 17 shows were sold out on Saturday after a scramble by Oasis fans for tickets.

However, Liam and Noel Gallagher, the once feuding brothers who are the face of Oasis, could be on stage together much sooner if a Saudi boxing promoter gets his way.

Liam is set to perform some hits at Wembley Stadium in London on September 21, ahead of the world heavyweight championship fight between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois, which is expected to draw more than 90,000 spectators.

Turki Alalshikh, the Saudi adviser who organizes boxing events for the kingdom, said on Monday he wanted Noel to be at Wembley as well.

“It will be a great thing if we bring them together,” said the chairman of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority in an interview with British radio station talkSPORT. “We will try, we will try. Why not?”

Oasis representatives did not immediately respond to contact from the Associated Press.

Oil-rich Saudi Arabia has become a major player in sport: it has attracted top footballers such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar to the kingdom, launched its own golf series and, thanks to the lucrative prize money, is also the venue for many high-profile boxing matches.

Online ticket sites were overwhelmed by demand for Oasis' first shows in 15 years. Prices started at around £74 (just under $100) and went up to £506 ($666) for a package that includes a pre-show party and merchandise. All tickets were sold out.

There are still a few tickets available for the Joshua-Dubois fight.
