Josh Brolin gets offer for role of Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in HBO's big-budget sci-fi series — World of Reel

Josh Brolin has been offered the role of Hal Jordan in HBO's big-budget miniseries “Lanterns,” which may follow in the same adult comic book footsteps as the “Watchmen” adaptation.

Brolin's team has not yet responded to the offer sent out on Friday by DC studio bosses Peter Safran and James Gunn (via Subscribe). It will be interesting to see if the otherwise picky Brolin ultimately accepts the offer.

“Lanterns” is about two intergalactic police officers (Hal Jordan and John Stewart) who investigate a murder in the heartland of America. Nathan Fillion will star in the series as Guy Gardner. It is not yet known whether Gardner or Jordan will portray the Green Lantern, as both characters have done so in the comics.

Damon Lindelof (“Watchmen”) will be executive producer of the series. Chris Mundy (“Ozark”) will serve as showrunner. Stephen Williams (“Chevalier”) is being considered as a possible director. He worked with Lindelof on “Watchmen” and directed episodes of “Lost,” “The Walking Dead,” “The Last of Us” and “Westworld.”
