Mboro continues his fight for freedom next week after another attempt fails

JOHANNESBURG – Controversial pastor Paseka “Mboro” Motsoeneng will continue his fight for freedom next week after another failed attempt.

On Monday, Mboro appealed the verdict in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court, which remanded him in custody until his next appearance on October 21.

In August, the pastor of Incredible Happenings Ministry was arrested along with his bodyguard Clement Baloyi and a close relative and charged with 12 counts, including kidnapping, trespassing, intimidation and possession of unlicensed firearms.

Judge Katlego Mokoena released the third accused on caution and denied bail to Mboro and Baloyi on the grounds that their bail statements contained grammatical errors and that their assurances to the court that they did not pose a flight risk were inadequately substantiated.

The trio were arrested after a video circulated online showed them brandishing weapons at Matshidiso Primary School in Katlehong on the East Rand in an alleged custody dispute.

Mboro has been behind bars since then before being brought before the police on Monday. He expressed fears that damage might be caused to his vehicles parked outside his church in his absence.

“I talked to God. The cases we opened are not being processed – some of my cars are being destroyed, the church was burned down by the family.”

In his appeal, which was postponed until September 9, Mboro claimed that fellow inmates had given him drugs.

He remains behind bars.
