Young local doctor arrested after bulletproof spell failed and patient died

Police in Edo have arrested 19-year-old local doctor Timothy Dauda for allegedly shooting his client Alex Ezekiel during an “anti-gun” sorcery trial.

The command’s spokesman, SP Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday.
Yamu said the incident occurred on August 20, 2024, in Onumu community, near Igara in Akoko Edo Local Government Area of ​​the state.

NAN learnt that the suspect allegedly claimed that he specialized in making spells against gunshot and machete cuts.

A source also told NAN that the deceased went to the local doctor’s house to collect the charm.
It states that “in a shocking turn of events,” Dauda attempted to test the effectiveness of the spell by shooting the client with a gun.

The spell is said to have failed because he suffered fatal injuries.
“When he was taken to a hospital in Igarra, a doctor pronounced him dead,” the source added.
The police spokesman said the suspect would be prosecuted once the investigation was completed.
