Talcher, Deputy Director of Mines Department, arrested; Vigilance uncovers DA worth Rs 5 crore

The state vigilance agency on Tuesday arrested Dharanidhar Nayak, deputy director of mines department (DDM), Talcher, for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets (DA) worth around Rs 5 crore.

Senior Vigilance officials said the government official's total disproportionate assets amounted to over 500 percent of his known sources of income.

Here is the list of assets discovered during Vigilance’s raid:

– 2 multi-storey buildings.

– A 3 bedroom apartment worth around Rs. 130 million and 1 duplex of 170 sq.ft at BBSR.

– 2 market complexes with 19 shops.

– 11 plots.

– Deposits of Rs. 53.53 lakh.

– Household items worth Rs. 54.70 lakh.

– Cash exceeding Rs. 9.85 lakh.

– 1 four-wheeler and 2 two-wheelers etc.
