Lovett Avenue: Mother pays tribute to her 13-year-old son

Jahziah Coke, 13, was stabbed to death in an apartment on Lovett Avenue on Thursday (August 29).

He was treated by paramedics but, despite their efforts, died at the scene.

Jahziah's family is being supported by officials during this tragic time.

In her tribute to her son, Jahziah’s mother said: “Jahziah was a very polite, kind and family-oriented young man.

“He was very loving and always smiling. His smile lit up the room. He was very kind-hearted.”

Last night (Monday, September 2), two teenagers who were arrested on Sunday were charged with Jahziah's murder. Their names cannot be used for legal reasons.

A man in his forties who was also arrested yesterday was charged with aiding and abetting a crime.

All three are being held in police custody before appearing at Birmingham Justice of the Peace Court today (Tuesday, September 3).

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “At this stage we are not looking for anyone else as part of our investigation.

“We have carried out CCTV investigations in the area but also need to hear from anyone who has footage from dashboard cameras, doorbells, CCTV cameras or mobile phones that could assist the investigation.

“Anyone with information has been asked to come forward via live chat or 101 quoting log 3204 of 29/08/24.
