Monk Bretton: Name of victim of fatal street stabbing announced, five arrests

A 19-year-old woman and two men aged 21 and 32 were arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday, while a 41-year-old man was arrested on Monday on suspicion of affray and assault.

Officers had previously arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of rioting, property damage, possession of weapons and assault.

Police said the 21-year-old was still in police custody, while the other four people had been released on bail pending further investigations.

Det Ch Insp Ben Wood said the investigation into Mr Sutton’s death was “continuing at full speed”.

“We have arrested several people within hours of the incident and would welcome any information that could assist us in our investigation into this incident,” he said.

“Our thoughts are with Alan’s family during this difficult time.”
