Naoya Inoue defended his undisputed super bantamweight title with a stoppage victory over TJ Doheny after an injury to the Irish fighter forced the fight to be stopped in the seventh round.

“The Monster” extended his flawless record to 28-0 after winning in Koto-Ku, Japan, on Tuesday afternoon.

In another devastating display of power, the four-weight world champion attempted to defeat the experienced and accomplished Doheny by landing vicious punches at will and hoping for victory by stoppage.

However, early in the seventh round, after taking some heavy body blows, Doheny retreated while holding his back and the fight was quickly stopped in a disappointing finish.

Inoue has left a trail of destruction in his wake, becoming one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. At 28, he has won world titles in four different weight classes, moved up to super bantamweight last year and capped it off with a dominant performance against Stephen Fulton that earned him the WBO and WBC belts.

He added the IBF and WBA belts to his collection with a KO victory over Marlon Tapales on Boxing Day before stepping off the mat to defeat Luis Nery in May earlier this year.
