Shocking new details emerge after Ricky Pearsall shooting… Officer reveals his harrowing first words after being shot in the chest

San Francisco 49ers rookie Ricky Pearsall reportedly asked a police officer if he was going to die after being shot over the weekend.

Pearsall, who was selected by the 49ers in the first round of this year's NFL Draft, received a bullet in the chest Saturday night after being attacked in downtown San Francisco for his Rolex watch.

The 23-year-old wide receiver was initially in “serious but stable condition” before leaving the hospital on Sunday.

After his release, a San Francisco police sergeant released Pearsall's harrowing first words after the shooting on Saturday.

Speaking to NBC Bay Area, Sergeant Joelle Harrell said, “He looks at me and thinks, 'Am I going to die?' I just say, 'No.'”

“I took off my hat because I wanted to make eye contact with him. I wanted him to hear me. I said to him, 'Listen, look at me. I know you don't know me, but I want you to trust me. Your time has not come yet.'”

Harrell didn't know Pearsall was an NFL player until she began treating the wound. Then she tried to calm him down by saying, “Remember, it's going to be OK. You are strong, so be strong, just like you are on the field.”

“And he listened,” she added, via the San Francisco Chronicle. “He calmed down, and that's what I wanted from him.”

A 17-year-old suspect allegedly attempted to steal Pearsall's Rolex watch before an altercation broke out and both were shot in the Union Square area.

Police immediately arrested the suspect, who was not wearing shoes after losing them at the scene. He remained in custody until Monday evening and could be charged this week.

Following the ordeal, Pearsall was placed on the 49ers' reserve/non-football injured list on Monday.

Therefore, he will miss at least the first four games of his rookie season following the incident on Saturday at Union Square in San Francisco.

To fill the vacancy on their 53-man roster, the Niners signed offensive tackle Brandon Parker to a one-year contract.
