Two arrested for murder of elderly man and his daughter in Mandeni

The bodies of a 62-year-old man and his daughter were found in Mangethe area of ​​Mandeni on Monday.

According to officials, the man's 57-year-old wife was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds.

“Through rapid investigations, the identities of the suspects came to light. It emerged that they were allegedly looking for the son of the deceased, whom they accused of having an affair with the girlfriend of one of the suspects,” said KZN police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda.

“The police immediately launched an operation and shortly after midnight on Tuesday, police raided the suspects at a residential house in Majuba area of ​​Mandeni. Two firearms were found on the suspects, one of which was a homemade firearm while the other had its serial number filed off.”

Netshiunda said it was not the only case for which the suspects were wanted.

“Before shooting the three victims, the suspects reportedly abducted a man in eMakhwanini area of ​​Mangethe and dragged him into the nearby bushes where they tied him to a tree with a rope and sealed his mouth.

“The suspects allegedly told the victim that they were going to kill people on a particular farm and that they would kill him last. The victim managed to free himself and reported the incident to the police.”

The couple must appear in court on Wednesday.
