Who is Linda Sun? The glamorous former deputy chief of staff to New York Governor Kathy Hochul and her husband were arrested by the FBI in their $3.5 million home

A former aide to Gov. Kathy Hochul and her husband were arrested Tuesday morning after the FBI raided their Long Island home. Linda Sun and her husband, Christopher Hu, were arrested on Long Island, the FBI said. Federal agents raided the couple's $3.5 million, five-bedroom mansion in early July.

The charges are currently sealed, and Sun and Hu are scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon. Law enforcement sources say the pair's arrests are tied to a broader corruption investigation unrelated to Sun's role with the governor. Sun was fired from her job at the state Department of Labor earlier this year after “evidence of wrongdoing” surfaced.

The couple purchased their home in a gated community called Stone Hill in 2021. According to records, they transferred ownership of the property to a trust earlier this year.

Sun has held various government positions in New York state for 15 years, including roles in the administrations of Hochul and former Governor Andrew Cuomo, according to her LinkedIn profile.

In her role as Hochul assistant, Sun focused on business development, Asian American affairs and initiatives related to diversity, equity and inclusion, according to her profile.

After 15 months in her position as chamber president, Sun, who graduated from Barnard College and Columbia University, moved to a position with the New York State Department of Labor in 2022.

A source familiar with the circumstances of her departure told the Associated Press that Sun was fired after allegations of misconduct emerged.

The matter was referred to law enforcement at the time, according to the source, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the company is not authorized to publicly address personnel matters.

The source did not provide any further details about the nature of the alleged misconduct.

After leaving state government, Sun took on the role of campaign manager for Democrat Austin Cheng in his unsuccessful run for Congress on Long Island.

Her husband, on the other hand, runs a liquor store in Flushing, Queens. It is not clear whether the raid on Sun's home was related to her job or her husband's business.

He has also founded several companies over the past decade, including one called Medical Supplies USA LLC, which he launched at the beginning of the Covid pandemic.
