Famous city restaurant “institution” sold after 23 years

Smith and Clough Business Associates, who handled the sale, described the successful restaurant and café-bar, which has around 60 covers and outdoor seating, as a “stunning property”.

Jonathan Clough of Smith and Clough Business Associates said: “We are delighted to announce the sale of Ziques restaurant and café bar on Hyndland Street and its sister business Bakery by Zique just off Clarence Drive, both located in the popular Hyndland area of ​​Glasgow’s West End.

“Founded in 2001 by our customer Mhairi Taylor, Ziques is very well established and has an excellent reputation for its brunches, lunches and small snacks and is a real institution in Glasgow. The bakery opened in 2017 and is also very popular with the residents of Hyndland.”

Mr Clough also said: “After a short marketing campaign during which we received significant interest and several offers, we are delighted to announce that the business has been purchased by Hinba Coffee Roasters, who currently operate two cafes in Glasgow and Oban.

Fergus McCoss, owner of Hinba, said: “We are delighted to be taking on such a West End institution and welcoming Ziques into the Hinba family. Mhairi and the team at Ziques have done such a great job in developing a brilliant product that no major changes will be required initially.”

“Ziques will continue to offer the same fantastic food and ambience and we will slowly make changes over the next few months to make it more in line with Hinba, but towards the end of the year and into next year we hope to really develop the evening offering working closely with our new head chef, so stay tuned!”

While the sale value was not disclosed, the property was marketed for bids in excess of £595,000.
