Iconic rock frontman shocks audience and draws fan on stage for duet

Eddie Vedder, the legendary frontman of the legendary 90s rock group Pearl Jam, shocked fans at Wrigley Field in Chicago last week.

During the band's encore at the August 29 show, he announced, “Okay, we're going to try something different,” before bringing a woman from the audience onstage to sing “Won't Tell” in a duet with Vedder.

The song was captured in a six-and-a-half minute video by a viewer, in which “Abby” sings alongside the famous band at the microphone, alternating between confidence and shock on her face.

Several commenters on the YouTube video shared the fans’ point of view:

“I was there,” wrote one concertgoer. “Another amazing show and something I've never seen in 33 years: Pearl Jam bringing in a fan to sing a duet with Eddie… wow.”

“That's my girlfriend! She is amazing, I'm so happy for her!” posted another viewer, and a third wrote: “To say this is amazing is an understatement. This is a once in a lifetime moment that she will never forget. I feel it.”

Before bringing Abby on stage, Vedder announced the song “Won't Tell” and said, “There's a woman sitting in the front row who said she could sing it.”

He then joked that it took him years to “get from the front row to the stage,” while it took her “90 seconds.”

He said, “She's nervous, but I'm not,” and as the band started playing, Vedder gave the instruction, “So just jump in, the water is nice.”

At the end of the song, Vedder asked the crowd to lighten up and pose for a selfie with Abby, with thousands of fans at Wrigley Field behind them.
