New York Jets' dream target to be traded during the season

The New York Jets season is just a week away, an exciting time for a fan base and a team in search of success.

It's been a tough few years for the Jets, but with a roster as good as any in the NFL, they should be a contender for the Super Bowl.

Unless something drastic happens, like Aaron Rodgers' injury earlier in the season, the roster should only improve over the next few months.

New York will have the opportunity to make some trades before the trade deadline, and if they are clearly a Super Bowl contender this time of year, expect them to be aggressive.

This is your best chance to win a ring, so everyone should pitch in.

What they need at the deadline will likely depend on how the start of the season goes, but on paper the Jets could use another wide receiver.

Their receiver room has improved significantly, but they rely heavily on Mike Williams to be the same player he was before his injury.

While Davante Adams is the obvious option if he is traded, it is uncertain whether Rodgers' former teammate will be traded to the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders have shown no willingness to trade the six-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro despite expectations that they are a subpar team.

Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report believes this will change and predicts Adams will be traded.

“Adams has played with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback for most of his career. When he was traded to the Raiders, it was assumed he would reunite with college teammate Derek Carr. With Carr in New Orleans, Adams has now played with Jimmy Garoppolo and Aidan O'Connell, and Gardner Minshew is next… The 31-year-old has two years left on his contract with the Raiders, but the team would make $17.5 million from a trade, and not much money is guaranteed in those final two years. Don't be surprised if rumors of Adams being traded are a hot topic again during the season.”

If Adams were traded, he could certainly ask for a contract with New York. His familiarity with Rodgers is the most important thing, but if the Jets were able to sign him, they would probably play good football.

Adams would be reunited with his former world-class quarterback, have a chance to win and live right next to New York City.

What more could the 31-year-old wish for?
