News from the New York Yankees: Grisham and Verdugo enjoy the club's trust

Baseball America | JJ Cooper & Matt Eddy: Jasson Domínguez is staying at Triple-A Scranton despite the roster expansion a few days ago. While some online speculated that the non-move was to take advantage of Jasson's status as a prospect, BA reveals that the decision has nothing to do with the Prospect Promotion Initiative, as he is ineligible for a future draft pick due to his time on the injured list earlier this year.

MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: The best possible version of the Yankees would likely have Jasson Domínguez in the outfield, but the club has opted to leave its top talent in Triple-A as September begins. As shown above, this move revolves around the franchise's loyalty to established veterans, namely Alex Verdugo and Trent Grisham. We've seen something similar in the infield before, and this conservative approach despite a razor-thin lead in the division seems to be becoming the Yankee way.

NY Post | Dan Martin: Speaking of established veterans, Anthony Rizzo's return to the major leagues on Sunday could limit DJ LeMahieu's future playing time. While Ben Rice was sent back to Triple-A Scranton, Oswaldo Cabrera initially had a starting spot and didn't embarrass himself, even though Rizzo now appears to have the full-time job. Whatever it means, Waldo has a higher wRC+ this season than Rizzo or DJ.

NJ.com | Max Goodman: Manager Aaron Boone seemed confident that both Luis Gil and Clarke Schmidt would return from IL appearances this weekend against the Cubs, giving the team six starters for the first time since March. Boone would not commit to a potential new rotation, but hinted that the team could run a six-man rotation at least once, which would leave Nestor Cortes ready for his regular start despite the return of the two right-handers.

CBS Sports | RJ Anderson: Speaking of rotation, left-hander Carlos Rodón is under tremendous pressure heading into the final month of the season. It's been an up-and-down year for the nominal co-star, and while a combination of Rodón, Gerrit Cole and Gil makes for a formidable playoff rotation on paper, Carlos will have to make a big contribution to getting the club into division title contention before he can start thinking about postseason action.
