2 passengers lock toddler in airplane toilet because it cries too much; Internet users are divided over incident from China

Toddlers often cry loudly during an air journey, mainly due to the difference in air pressure that occurs when flying several meters above sea level. While adults also experience an unpleasant sensation in their ears and feel uncomfortable or nauseous, young children express this loudly by crying loudly, disturbing and upsetting other passengers on board. To date, there have been several cases where people have expressed their frustration with a noisy flight because of children crying. In a similar case, a toddler was observed crying on board during a flight from Guizhou in southwest China to Shanghai. In response to her behavior, two passengers locked her in the airplane toilet.

2 passengers lock toddler in toilet to stop him from crying

A video taken in an airplane bathroom shows two women locking up a toddler who was crying loudly during a flight. The female passengers reportedly got permission from the little one's grandmother to take her to the bathroom and lock her there until she calmed down and stopped crying.

The two passengers were so annoyed by the girl's crying on board that they got up and locked her in the toilet. They did not leave the girl alone in the private room, but also sat there and told her to calm down, control her tears and return to their seats. In the footage that surfaced online showing the incident involving the toddler, the passenger duo can be seen repeatedly asking the girl to stop crying.

Why was the toddler crying?

The video was uploaded to a Chinese social media platform and the translated conversation read: “You can go out if you cry. Do you hear me? Auntie will take you to your grandma when you stop crying… You can't go out if you want to cry.” It is believed that the child burst into tears either because of the air pressure in the transport or because her cellphone had no reception. Regarding the second case, one of the women was heard saying: “You see… you can't play with your cellphone on the plane because there is no reception in the flight… No one looks at their cellphone. If you use your cellphone, it is against the rules of the plane. Stop crying.”

Incident divides the Internet

Some people reacted to the incident and the video, supporting the action of the two women in removing the crying child from the seating area so as not to inconvenience the passengers. “Give this woman a damn medal,” X-users wrote, commenting on how annoying it is to tolerate a toddler on board who constantly cries and disturbs others. On the other hand, many people found the behavior of the two passengers who locked a toddler in the airplane toilet “appalling.”
