Is an arsonist raging in Munich? More fires that were probably deliberately set

After several cases of arson in Munich and the surrounding area, there is increasing evidence that an arsonist is at work.

Munich – After several cases of arson in Munich and the surrounding area, the Attorney General's Office has even become involved and suspects an “extremist background”. Now there have been two more fires, which there are indications were deliberately set.

On Wednesday night at around 2:15 a.m., emergency services were called to a fire near a business in the area of ​​Lise-Meitner-Straße and Marie-Curie-Straße, police said.

According to reports, several vehicles were on fire in the Ottobrunn industrial park. The fire brigade was able to extinguish the flames.

According to the police, the material damage is likely to be in the six-figure range. Since there are indications that the fire was deliberately set, the Munich criminal police have taken over the case.

On Monday around 8:50 p.m., a scooter was reported to be on fire in the area of ​​Haunerstrasse at the corner of Inderstorferstrasse in Laim.

The fire also damaged a power distribution box and a garden wall. Here, too, arson is suspected.

In the past, there had been repeated fires in Munich and the surrounding area – including on construction sites, in geothermal and railway facilities, and radio masts. The public prosecutor's office also investigated on suspicion of extremism.

Most recently, it burned down in a concrete plant on Detmoldstrasse in the Feldmoching-Hasenbergl district, causing millions in damage.

The Attorney General's Office took over the case and investigated in all directions. According to the investigators, an “extremist background” is likely.
