Briton rejects police invitation over alleged conspiracy against Tinubu

According to Olumuyiwa Adejobi, police spokesman, Wynn repeatedly ignored police invitations for questioning and has since fled Nigeria.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Adejobi expressed his frustration over Wynn's refusal to cooperate with authorities.

“Mr. Wynn was invited several times to answer questions about the allegations against him, but he refused to accept the invitations and subsequently left the country to avoid arrest.” explained Adejobi.

The situation took a surprising turn after Wynn insisted in an exclusive interview with Channels Television on Monday, September 2, that he was not evading the law.

“I am not aware that I am a refugee, nor am I running away from the law. I have been visiting Nigeria for 25 years and running a bookshop in Abuja for seven years without ever having any problems with the security forces.” Wynn said.

Wynn expressed his willingness to cooperate with the Nigerian authorities and offered to discuss the matter via WhatsApp or Zoom or even meet with officials from the Nigerian High Commission in London.

“I'm more than happy to talk to the police. If they want to start a conversation, I think that's more than enough.” he added.

Wynn's Nigerian wife also defended her husband to Channels Television, saying the allegations against him were based on a personal dispute rather than an attempt to overthrow the government.

She claimed that a Nigerian man who allegedly owed her husband money was behind the plot to get Wynn out of the country.

“We have been together for nine years and my husband is being falsely accused. This is not about terrorism, this is about someone trying to avoid guilt.” she claimed.

She also clarified that Wynn is currently in the UK only because he needs to temporarily leave Nigeria on his visitor visa, and not because he is fleeing the law.

Police have not yet released any further comment on Wynn's status or the ongoing investigation into the matter.
