Teenager shot and injured in Swedish school, suspect arrested, police say

STOCKHOLM – Swedish police said Wednesday that a teenager was shot in an attempted murder at a school in Stockholm, but a suspect had been arrested and the situation was under control.

The shooting occurred early Wednesday morning at a school in southern Stockholm, police said.

“One person was shot and taken to the hospital for treatment. The person was awake and talkative when we got there,” a police spokesman told Reuters, adding that the school was not considered an active crime scene.

“We are not looking for other perpetrators. We assume that we have the situation at the school under control,” said the spokesman, but declined to comment further.

The school's principal said that both the victim and the suspect were students at the school and that there appeared to be a personal conflict behind the attack.

“About a year ago there was a conflict, but it was resolved,” said school principal Kaj Majuri at a press conference. “Now a conflict has broken out that has gotten horribly out of control.”
