Syracuse University will not demolish old fraternity house, scales back plans for huge dorm: Syracuse University has scaled back its plans for a new student residence after facing opposition from city officials, neighbors and historic preservationists. Shortly before a Syracuse City Council vote this week to protect a vacant SU mansion on Comstock Avenue, the university withdrew a demolition application for the residence hall project that it submitted in the spring. SU has also submitted revised plans for the residence hall project to the City of Syracuse Planning Commission.

ACC Football Power Rankings: So much for SU’s simple schedule: There are only three ACC teams that are taken seriously when it comes to winning national titles, and two of them have already lost (one of them twice). These early results should have many teams believing this is their chance to have a special season.
