'Worst ex ever' enrages fans as they claim police 'completely failed' victim after secret came to light

Warning: This article contains a discussion of rape that some readers may find disturbing.

The worst ex ever has taken Netflix by storm and is at the top of the streamer’s charts.

The Netflix series follows four people's experiences with some of the worst exes, who in all four cases are criminally evil.

This even led to many viewers swearing off dating and being traumatized by the harrowing true stories told in the series.

However, one episode remained in the fans' memory – they were angry at the police and their handling of the matter.

The second episode is about a woman named Seemona and her experiences with an ex-boyfriend who committed absolutely heinous acts.

Seemona is a financial advisor and small business owner living in Queens, New York. In the show, she describes her meeting with a man named Jerry Ramrattan.

The two began a relationship, with Jerry claiming to be a New York police officer.

Seemona said in the documentary: “He passed by the restaurant. He bought food and started a conversation with me.

“He was wearing a suit, had a holster and a gun at his side. He told me he was a police officer and a detective with the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office.”

However, she later found out that not only was he not a police officer, but he also secretly had a wife and three children.

Although the couple separated, she allowed him to stay in her basement.

Ramrattan then sexually assaulted Seemona. He was later charged with rape and investigated for impersonating a police officer.

While out on bail, Ramrattan accused Seemona of a series of robberies and carried out a “harassment campaign” that led to her arrest in 2010.

In the documentary, she told police officers, “If you think I did something, he's behind it. I didn't do it,” and said police dismissed this, saying, “No, this has nothing to do with him.”

Despite protesting her innocence and providing an alibi, Seemona was charged with several counts and sentenced to seven months in prison on $1 million bail.

During this time she was separated from her 12-year-old daughter.

Although Seemona was later rehabilitated and Ramrattan was found guilty of rape, perjury and witness tampering, viewers were shocked by the police response to the case.

One fan tweeted: “The 2nd episode of The Worst Ex Ever on Netflix… the police have completely let Seemona down. Completely.”

Another fan responded: “The evidence was there, but they chose to look the other way. More than half a year of their lives was wasted just like that.”

One viewer tweeted: “Seemona is a fighter. She had everything against her and still kept fighting. The police were crap.”

“She lost everything because of a whole lie. And the crazy thing is that the police had evidence and just brushed it aside.”

And a third viewer said: “Heartbroken. Seemona Sumasar's story is literally one of the worst I have ever heard.”

In 2011, Seemona and her daughter sued Nassau County and the investigators handling her case and were eventually awarded $2 million.
