PH shooters win 23 gold medals at Indonesian tournament

The Philippines brought home 23 gold medals as it dominated the 2024 AustralAsia Handgun/PCC (pistol caliber carbine) practical shooting competition in Bali, Indonesia.

The Philippines also won nine silver and 13 bronze medals in the individual small arms events and ten gold, two silver and two bronze medals in the team events.

The individual handgun events were dominated by Rolly Nathaniel Tecson, who won the Standard Division and took the gold medal in that event, and Edcel Gino, who won the Production Optics Division, both shooters defeating competitors from around the world.

In the handgun team competitions, the Philippines took home gold in the Standard, Classic, Classic Senior, Open Junior, Production Senior and Production Optics divisions. Silver medals were won in the Production Optics Lady and Open Senior and Open Lady divisions, while bronze was won in the Open, Open Super Senior and Revolver divisions.

In the individual PCC competitions, eight gold, six silver and six bronze medals were won, while in the team competitions, five gold and one bronze medal were won.

According to Edwin Lim, President of the Philippine Practical Shooting Association, over 340 delegates from the country participated in this Level 4 event sanctioned by the International Practical Shooting Confederation.

Lim added that the country also provided the largest number of shooting instructors for the major event and that most of them worked voluntarily at their own expense.

This tournament is a prelude to this year's World Shoot, which will take place in South Africa.
