No weakness in decision to ban AAP MP Sandeep Pathak’s meeting with Kejriwal in jail – ThePrint – PTIFeed

New Delhi, Sept 4 (PTI) – The Delhi High Court on Wednesday said there was no cause for complaint in the decision of the prison authorities to deny visitation rights to AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak after he met Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in prison.

Regarding Pathak's request to be allowed to meet Kejriwal in future, Justice Neena Bansal Krishna said he was free to file an application for visitation rights, which would be considered by the jail superintendent in accordance with law.

The court, which had stayed its order on August 22 after hearing the submissions of the counsel for Pathak and Tihar jail authorities, dismissed the petition.

The prison authorities had allowed Pathak to meet Kejriwal twice in April, but denied him permission this time on the grounds that certain statements he made after the meeting with the chief minister were against prison rules and were largely politically motivated.
