Third person arrested in connection with shooting in Aloha Church parking lot

Deputies arrested a third person on Tuesday who they said was connected to a shooting in a church parking lot in which two people were injured and the surrounding houses are riddled with bullets.

Investigators took 21-year-old Kaylee Vanderpool of Portland to the Washington County Jail on charges of obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence.

Around 6 a.m. Monday, gunfire broke out between at least four people at Eden Presbyterian Church near Southwest 185th Avenue and Longacre Street, leaving two people injured, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Officers arrested 21-year-old Matteo Greene and a 17-year-old, both of Portland. Both are charged with attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault.

According to officials, a physical altercation occurred between Greene and the teenager with two other people, after which several people opened fire.

Greene was shot in the leg and another person in the group was shot in the stomach.

Bullets pierced the walls of at least five nearby homes. One bullet pierced the bedroom of a woman's granddaughter, ricocheting off the ceiling and landing near a closet.

No one was injured in the houses.

The sheriff's office said Tuesday that additional arrests and charges are possible as the investigation continues.
