Colorado mother arrested after allegedly driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.334 per mille – and two small children in the car

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colorado (KKTV) – “More than unacceptable.”

Douglas County police had harsh words for a mother who got behind the wheel on Labor Day weekend with a blood alcohol level of 0.334 per mille – more than four times the maximum permitted limit! – with their children in the car.

Several passersby called officers because they allegedly saw the woman first swaying erratically across the roadway and then crashing near Jaguar Point and McArthur Ranch Road in Highlands Ranch.

“The driver reportedly attempted to flee the scene of the accident by ramming the victim's car to push it out of the way,” the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said.

When officers arrived at the scene, she appeared to be extremely drunk.

“She appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or both. The deputy attending the scene noted the overwhelming odor of alcohol, her slurred speech, and her inability to stand on her own,” the sheriff's office said.

When officers looked into the car, they saw an even more disturbing sight: The suspect had allegedly hidden a full bottle of wine and five alcoholic beverages – all opened – in the vehicle, and her two young children were sitting in the back seat.

“Driving under the influence of alcohol is reckless enough, but with small children in the car it is completely unacceptable,” said Sheriff Darren Weekly.

The suspect has been identified as 40-year-old Jill Sukovieff of Castle Pines. Sukovieff is charged with DUI, reckless driving, reckless endangerment and child abuse.

“Fortunately, no one was injured, but it could have been much worse. We will continue to be vigilant in getting drunk drivers off the road,” Weekly said.
