Order under control in Jainoor, Telanga, after clashes over alleged sexual assault of Advasi woman

Asifabad (Telangana) [India]September 5 (ANI): Law and order in Jainoor is currently under control following violent clashes recently over the alleged sexual assault and attempt to murder of an Advasi woman, Telangana CMO said.

One of the accused was arrested after the Advasi woman was sexually assaulted in Jainoor Mandal in KB Asifabad district of Telangana. Adivasi organisations like Tudum Dibba called a strike on Wednesday over the incident.

The government talked to both sides to ensure that the strike was carried out responsibly. However, some people started destroying property and the other side also responded with retaliation, which led to arson, stone throwing and property damage.

SP KB Asifabad was the first responder with his team along with additional forces from the neighbouring districts of Adilabad, Mancherial, Sirsila, Jagtial and TGSP platoons. SPs/DCPs from the neighbouring districts helped in controlling the situation. More than 1000 police personnel were deployed to bring the situation under control.

The CMO of Telangana said that RAF was deployed and DGP Telangana, ADG (LawOrder) and IG North Zone were constantly monitoring the situation.

The district administration has imposed curfews under 144 CrPC/163 BNSS. People are cautioned not to violate the curfews. As a precautionary measure, an internet ban has been imposed in the areas to prevent the spread of rumours and false reports.

A flag march was held in the affected area and prohibition orders were announced. Vigils were set up to build confidence.

“Special teams have been constituted and investigations have been launched into incidents of arson and violence to identify the perpetrators. Strict action has been taken against them as per law. The loss of property incurred during the violence is being assessed and forwarded to the government, which will take further necessary action,” the CMO said.

Police have appealed to all citizens to exercise restraint after the accused in the alleged sexual assault with attempt to murder case was arrested and remanded in judicial custody by the Jainoor police.

“The victim's medical treatment is being undertaken at Gandhi Hospital and all the medical expenses are being borne by the administration. A compensation of Rs 100,000 has already been paid to the victim,” the CMO added.

SP Asifabad has spoken to the elders of the area to maintain peace. People have been informed not to believe rumours. Telangana CMO said that spreading provocative social media posts without any truth in them can be prosecuted. In case of emergency, people can dial 100. Currently, the situation is under control.
