“The Million Dollar Heist” by Peacock

What a million dollar heist has to do with the night of Muhammad Ali's fight against Jerry Quarry is explained in a new series from Peacock, aptly called “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist”. It is now available on the US streamer.

Today, Thursday, September 5, the miniseries Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist celebrates its US premiere on the streaming service Peacock. However, it is still unclear whether and where the format will be broadcast in Germany.

What is the series “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist” about?

The US series “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Robbery” tells the story of the night of Muhammad Ali's loss to Jerry Quarry. Hundreds of guests were robbed at gunpoint during an after-party in what became one of the largest armed robberies the country has ever seen.

When a hustler named Chicken Man (played by executive producer Kevin Hart) threw an after-party to celebrate the fight with a guest list of the richest people in the country, the night ended with the most brazen criminal underworld heist in Atlanta history. Suspected of masterminding the crime, Chicken Man is determined to clear his name, but must convince his old nemesis, JD Hudson (Don Cheadle; Secret Invasion, House of Lies), one of the first black detectives in the city's desegregated police force, who is tasked with bringing those responsible to justice.

Who stars in the series “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist”?

The miniseries' ensemble also includes Taraji P. Henson (Person of Interest) as Vivian Thomas, Chicken Man's lover and a smart businesswoman in her own right; Terrence Howard (Empire) as Richard “Cadillac” Wheeler, a gangster and operative of the Council of Twelve; alum Dexter Darden (Saved by the Bell (2020)) as Ali; and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury in the MCU, “pulp Fiction“) as notorious gangster Frank Moten, who was described in the New York tabloid as “Black Godfather“ is known.

Guest stars include Marsha Stephanie Blake (How to Get Away with Murder) as Delores Hudson, JD's wife and a social worker who fights for her community; Rockmond Dunbar (Prison Break) as Uncle Willie, a car repair shop owner whose real job is to serve as the area's top gangster; Also starring Myles Bullock (BMF), Chloe Bailey (Grown-ish), Melvin Gregg (Snowfall), Jalyn Hall (All American), Clifton Powell (“Saints and sinners“), Sinqua Walls (American Soul), Artrece Johnson and Lori Harvey.

The story of the miniseries “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Robbery“ was previously made into a feature film by Universal Images and Will Packer. Lars Jacobson wrote the screenplay. In 2020, the story was picked up by the production company Doghouse Pictures then converted into a podcast.
