Brawl outside Gonzo's Tea Room in the city centre, London Street

At 1:07am, officers were called to London Street outside Gonzo's Tea Room to assist emergency services following reports that a man had been attacked.

An eyewitness who wished to remain anonymous said: “It appeared as if there had been a fight between two people.”

“One of them had a bloody nose.

“He kicked another person who was probably lying unconscious on the ground and screamed: 'He broke my nose.'”

“There were security guards outside Gonzo's yelling at him to stop what he was doing.

“The person mumbled something I couldn't hear before walking away.”

A dark blue backpack, handkerchiefs and drops of blood were found at the crime scene.

A police spokeswoman said a man was “taken to N&N, but his injuries are not life-threatening.”

A police cordon has been set up this morning and part of London Street has been cordoned off, while a police van remains on site. The cordon is expected to be lifted later today.
