Rituparna Sengupta faces violent reaction at protest demonstration against RG Kar rape and murder case; Tollywood celebs criticise the mob | Bengali Movie News

When the artists of the Bengali entertainment industry took to the streets to show their solidarity with the doctors protesting against the RG Kar rape and murder incident, Tollywood actress Rituparna Sengupta was also part of the clan that took part in the protests along with her colleagues. The actress known for her role in 'Dahan' appeared at one of the protest sites in Shyambazar, Kolkata on the evening of September 4. But Rituparna had a bitter experience when she turned up at the protest site to show her solidarity. When she tried to join the mass gathering, she was confronted with 'Go back' slogans. Not only that, her car was reportedly hit so many times that she had to leave the protest site.
Tollywood stars like Sudipta Chakraborty, Kamaleshwar Mukherjee and Ananya Chatterjee took to social media to criticise the mob for manhandling Rituparna. Expressing her frustration on Facebook, Sudipta Chakraborty said, “You may not like her opinion. You may not like the way she showed her solidarity. Even raising the slogan 'Go back' is acceptable. She accepted your verdict and left the area. But is it right to hammer her car? I condemn it!”
Ananya Chatterjee condemned the incident and wrote, “I strongly condemn this behaviour. I request people to choose their battles carefully. Many will try to divert our focus from the goal. Please do not let them succeed.”
Kamaleshwar Mukherjee also spoke out against it and wrote: “I condemn this inhuman treatment of Rituparna Sengupta. Anyone can join the movement. Nobody can stop anyone.”
Rituparna was earlier mocked for her 'staged' solidarity with the doctors' protest against the RG Kar rape and murder incident when she shared a video of herself blowing conch. Though she showed solidarity online, the actress was mostly not physically present at the rallies. However, Rituparna attended the protest demonstration on the evening of September 4 and received 'Go back' slogans from the masses. Rituparna revealed that she wanted to stand by the victim's family and pacify them and hence turned up at the demonstration. The actress, however, mentioned that this experience would not stop her from showing her solidarity and demanding justice for the victim and the family.
