Three men steal Rs 15 lakh from a Paldi trader

Ahmedabad: Three men stole Rs 1.5 million in cash from an iron dealer in Paldi on Wednesday night after instigating a brawl over reckless driving. Arun Shah, 55, a resident of Dev Status Flats on Vikasgruh Road in Paldi, runs an iron trading firm near Old High Court in Navrangpura. In his FIR, Shah said his office was closed on Wednesday due to Mahaveer Jayanti. In the afternoon, he received a call from a businessman from Himmatnagar who wanted to buy 20 tonnes of iron rods from him. Shah quoted Rs 1.5 million for the order, which the businessman placed in advance through a firm in Angadia.
Shah went to the company on CG Road in Navrangpura where he received Rs 1.5 million in cash. He was returning home with the bag containing the cash on the footrest of his scooter when a motorcyclist stopped beside him on Jainnagar Road and reprimanded him for his reckless driving.
“I stopped my scooter to talk to him when two more men on a motorcycle stopped near my vehicle and fled with the cash,” Shah said in his FIR.
Shah said the three men, aged between 30 and 40, were speeding towards Hirabaug Crossing in Paldi. The Paldi police registered a case of robbery and abetment under Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita.
