Uttar Pradesh: Principal suspends kindergarten student for bringing non-vegetarian food

The principal of a private school in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh state, India has suspended a kindergarten student for allegedly bringing non-vegetarian food to school in his lunch box. The incident came to light after a video shot by the student's mother went viral on social media.

The video showed a heated argument between the school principal and the child's mother.

“We do not want to educate children with such morals who destroy our temples and do not bring vegetables to school,” the headmaster was heard telling the mother.

He claimed the boy talked about giving meat to everyone and “converting them to Islam.” The headmaster claims the student admitted to bringing meat to school, although his mother denied it.

The woman denied the headmaster's allegations, arguing that a seven-year-old boy like her son could not possibly talk about such things, to which the headmaster replied that the child learns all this at home, being taught by his parents.

The principal also said that the student's name had been removed from the school register because parents of other students had a problem.

The child's mother also responds to the headmaster's allegations and says that there are disputes at the school between the students and the Hindus in the country.

The woman accused another child of frequently hitting and harassing her son, prompting the school's principal to say the woman was trying to “mislead” the school by making counter-accusations against another student.

Responding to the nearly seven-minute-long video that went viral on the internet, Amroha police said the District Inspector of Education (DIS) had swung into action and a three-member inquiry committee had been set up to look into the case and take further action.
