Ada Lea shares “Come on, baby! Be a good girl in front of the camera” from new EP: Listen

Ada Lea released a great album a few years ago called one hand on the steering wheel, the other sowing in the gardenwhich we named both album of the week and one of the best albums of 2021. Today she is back with a song called “come on, baby! be a good girl for the camera” which will appear on her newly announced upcoming EP Notes.

“Come on, Baby! Be a Good Girl for the Camera” was written when Ada Lea was writing the songs for her last album. She laments the exhausting side of indie fame: “What I want now/ Is different than what I wanted a year ago,” she sings over snazzy guitars. In a press release, she adds:

I wrote this song during a very demanding tour that took everything out of me. Over the years I've developed a suspicion that to make it in the industry you have to have a macho face of steel – you have to be able to grit your teeth, put on a nice smile and do a little dance with a twinkle in your eye. The chorus reflects this belief in a cheeky, non-committal and playful way.
