The police in Baden are dealing with a special “cold case”. A red Opel is found in the Rhine, which has been lying in the water for decades.

Human bones have been found in a car that has been lying in the Rhine for almost 40 years. According to the police, this is probably the case of a missing person from 1986. There were no details available at this time. “There are currently no indications that point to a capital crime,” the investigators simply said.

Last week, a fisherman in Rastatt-Plittersdorf noticed the wreck in the river. The hook of his fishing rod must have got caught on something. The fisherman went into the water and discovered the license plate.

Water police find bones

Divers from the water police found the bones in the car in the middle of the week. According to the investigators' initial findings, the red Opel has been lying in the water for around 38 years. It remains unclear why the vehicle was not discovered earlier.
